Back to the flowery island of Sicily her mother brought her, and the peach trees and the almonds blossomed showily as she passed. The olives decked themselves with their soft grey leaves, the corn sprang up, green and lush and strong. The lemon and orange groves grew golden with luscious fruit, and all the land was carpeted with flowers. For six months of the year she stayed, and gods and men rejoiced at the bringing back of Proserpine. For six months she left her green and pleasant land for the dark kingdom of him whom she loved, and through those months the trees were bare, and the earth chill and brown, and under the earth the flowers hid themselves in fear and awaited the return of the fair daughter of Demeter.

"I, too, am powerful, and I am young! I do not fear you. When I touch the earth, it grows soft and warm. Every living thing stirs in its sleep,—birds and bees, flowers and trees, animals and men. When I speak, the sleeping sun awakes. See! Already he begins to send down his arrows. Hasten! that they may not find you, on the trail to the North Sky."

The Old Man trembled. His legs and arms grew weak. Icicles fell from his beard. Great tears rolled down his cheeks.

Newspapers have long been a popular way to stay informed about current events. However, with the advent of new media technologies, such as social media, news websites, and television news, some people believe that other media outlets are better for learning about news.

Advantages of newspapers for learning news include:

In-depth coverage: Newspapers often have more space to provide in-depth coverage of news events, allowing readers to gain a deeper understanding of the issues at hand.
Analysis and opinion: Newspapers often provide analysis and opinion pieces written by experts in various fields, which can provide readers with insights and different perspectives on news events.
Accessibility: Newspapers are widely available and can be easily purchased or subscribed to, making them accessible to a wide range of readers.
On the other hand, there are some advantages of other media outlets for learning news:

Timeliness: Other media outlets such as news websites and social media provide real-time updates on breaking news, allowing readers to stay informed about the latest developments as they happen.
Multimedia: Television news and news websites often include multimedia features, such as videos, images, and interactive graphics, which can provide a more engaging and immersive news experience.
Customization: Other media outlets often allow readers to customize their news feeds, selecting topics or sources that are of particular interest to them.
In my opinion, while newspapers are still a valuable source of news, other media outlets offer advantages that cannot be ignored. The speed and immediacy of news websites and social media make them essential for staying up-to-date on breaking news, while television news and multimedia features provide a more immersive and engaging news experience. Write an outline for the passage. Procrastination is a tendency or behavioural trait shown in an indecisive state or lack in will power to work. Because the delay is irrational, people end up voluntarily choosing a course of action that they know will not maximize their physical, psychological, and material well - being. The definition of procrastination holds a decidedly negative denotation and connotation. There are six different style of procrastination: perfectionist , dreamer , worrier, crisis-maker , defier and overdoer. First , the perfectionist pays too much attention to details that they often cannot finish a project . The dreamer , in contrast, does not pay enough attention to details. They have wonderful thoughts ,but, somehow, someone else should just get the details done , so their thinking style is fuzzy. The worriers have an excessive need for security, causing them to fear risk and avoiding finishing projects, so they remain in their "known comfort zones" . The crisis-maker , on the other end of the worrier , tells themselves they work best under pressure; thus , waits until the last minute , and often they pull it off , but with a whole lot of anguish and generally not as good as expected. The defier is a rebel seeking to buck the rules . By procrastinating , they are setting their own schedule , one that nobody else can predict or control . The overdoers says "Yes" to too much because they are unable or unwilling to make choices and establish priorities. They end up actually doing a lot for other people , but often procrastinating what they need to do for themselves. However , it is likely that an individual can adopt multiple styles of procrastination. The goal is to balance each of these areas. Different factors appear to contribute towards procrastination, particularly, lack of commitment, lack of guidance and encouragement, inappropriate time management skills, emotional stress , social problems , overconfidence and illness . Thus , students, for example , may procrastinate when they are unable to set a pace of their learning to meet high performance expectations. Students may delay their academic work as their routine and, later on , it becomes their habit . Likewise , longer timelines of completing a task , plenty of leisure time , and exercise habits and co-curricular activities promote procrastination. Different physical, emotional and mental problems appear to be associated with procrastination. First , it may created embarrassment and inferiority complex amongst students , leading to a negative relationship between level of ego identity and procrastination, and lessening confidence among students .Also , high expectancy of completing a task may result in unhealthy sleep ,diet and exercise habits and yield to higher rates of smoking, drinking , digestive ailments and cold and flu symptoms. There could also be an increase in a lot of stress , worry and fear leading to a miserable life with shame and self- doubt . Lastly , it may affect achievement of goals, creating anxiety, cheating , plagiarism and higher use of alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine.

A recent study on the influence of excitement on gambling behavior compared the amounts of money people wagered in a computer game before and after they held a live crocodile. It found that people with a gambling addiction bet more when they were on edge from their reptile encounter, while non-gamblers bet less.
This research was reported in both academic and popular articles. The following passages each include parts of an interview with the author of the study:
In an email to the Washington Post, the scientist said that his work is the first to address 'the contribution that emotions like excitement and fear have on gambling. This gives us new insights into a serious problem that negatively affects many individuals and communities.'
During a phone call with Buzzfeed, the author began by snarking that anyone who doesn’t want to lose money should stay away from crocodiles. He then got serious, and pointed out that even studies that seem goofy at first can end up being good for both science and society.
Which choice below best explains differences in the tone and style of the two passages?

Passage A uses mainly objective language and a formal style because the readers of a respected newspaper expect a serious tone.
Passage B uses more subjective language and a relaxed, informal style because it is a website trying to attract the attention of casual readers.

Passage A is organized around quotes and facts because it is meant for scientists.
Passage B is organized in a timeline because it is meant for historians.

Passage A uses formal language in order to persuade the reader that the study is correct.
Passage B uses informal language in order to persuade the reader that the study is incorrect.

Passage A is written in more proper and formal language than Passage B because a written interview is more traditional than a phone call.

Answers

The most ideal decision is the first: Section A purposes primarily true language and a conventional style on the grounds that the perusers of a regarded paper anticipate a serious tone.

Entry B utilizes more emotional language and a casual, casual style since it is a site attempting to draw in the consideration of relaxed perusers.

This decision best makes sense of the distinctions in the tone and style of the two sections since it thinks about the reason and crowd of each source. Section An is composed of a legitimate paper that expects to illuminate its perusers about recent developments and examination in an exact and solid manner. Thusly, it utilizes objective language, for example, "the first to address", "new bits of knowledge", and "adversely influences", and a proper style, for example, "an email" and "the researcher". Section B is composed of a well-known site that plans to engage its perusers with snappy and funny stories. In this way, it utilizes emotional language, for example, "snarking", "silly", and "great", and a casual, casual style, for example, "a call" and "the creator".

Use inductive reasoning to determine the units digit (or ones digit):Example: Use inductive reasoning to determine the units digit of the number 3^55 .The question is not about giving the exact value, but rather than applying the inductive reasoning to figure out the units digit. The units digit in base 3 are 3, 9, 7, 1, 3, 9, 7, 1, ... repeating meaning that every power that is divisible by 4 will end in 1. 56 is divisible by 4. Using this inductive reasoning 3 to the 56th power would end in a 1, then moving backward to the 55th power would give you a units digit of 7. This is inductive reasoning because we are using the smaller sample size of 4 repeating unit digits to make broad theories about all powers of 3.Another similar approach: The units digit in base 3 are 3, 9, 7, 1, 3, 9, 7, 1, ... repeating. If the power is a multiple of four, the units digit is 1.
